Mountains of Mourne

                         C                 D

Oh Mary, this London's a wonderful sight...

D                                                 G

there's people here working by day and by night...

  ...G                       _ - ‾      C       D

they don't sew potatoes, nor barley nor wheat...

     ...D                                          G

there's gangs of them diggin' for gold in the street

_/ C                                                G

....at least when I asked them, that's what I was told

     G          Em          C            D

so I took me a hand at this diggin' for gold

        G                         _ - ‾         C

but for all that I found there, I might as well be

          D                                        G... G

where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea

 ...G                    _ - ‾        C

you remember old Peter O'Laughlin, of course

D                                        G

...he's here now... the head of the force

  G                       _ - ‾         C

I saw him today while I's crossin' the strand

D                                               G

...stopped the whole line with a wave of his hand

_/ C                                           G

....and as we stood talkin' of days that are gone

    G          Em        C             D

the whole population of London looked on

        G                         _ - ‾         C

but for all his fine powers, he's wishful like me

        D                                       G... G

to be where the dark Mournes sweep down to the sea

G  G  _ - ‾  C  D  D  G

G  G  _ - ‾  C  D  D  G... G

(Break)

        G                       _ - ‾        C

There's beautiful girls here, oh never you mind

D                                             G

...with beautiful shapes nature never designed

     G                      _ - ‾       C

with lovely complexions all roses and cream

D                                                   G

...but O'Laughlin remarked, with regards to the same

_/ C                                               G

....that if of these fine flowers, you ventured a sip

    G           Em         C             D

the color might all come away on your lip

        G                             _ - ‾       C

so I'll wait for the wild rose that's waiting for me

          D                                        G... G

where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea

   G                     C

Oh Mary, this London's a wonderful sight

D... G
